By the end of this lesson, you'll solve:

"If you save Rs 100 in Week 1, Rs 150 in Week 2, Rs 200 in Week 3... how much will you save in Week 52?"

What is an Arithmetic Progression?

Picture this: you save Rs 100 more each month -- 100, 200, 300, 400... That steady jump of 100 is the "common difference" and the whole list is an AP.

Key Points

  • 1
Each term = previous term + a fixed number
  • 2
Common difference (d) = any term minus the previous term
  • 3
    d positive: increasing (2, 5, 8, 11...)
  • 4
    d negative: decreasing (20, 17, 14, 11...)
  • 5
    d zero: all terms equal (5, 5, 5, 5...)

Pro Tip

Check differences between consecutive terms. If constant, it is an AP!
